What is an ADOS Assessment?

The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS 2):
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule is an individually administered activity-based assessment that offers a standardised way to assess an individual's social communication skills.

The ADOS 2 is designed to contribute to a diagnostic assessment rather than providing a definitive diagnosis in its own right, and it should always be considered together with other information when a diagnosis of Autism is being considered.

We recognise that the ADOS is not always the most appropriate tool to use particularly for adults and this is increasingly being recognised in the professional and Autism community. There is work being conducted to develop the ADOS more for adult clients, however whilst we are waiting for this we can also conduct 'ADOS-Informed' assessments which would be considered more appropriate for some adult clients.

it was worth every penny to give my daughter the best start in life as soon as possible.

We were met with nothing but empathy and understanding from every member of staff that we dealt with throughout the process,

We now have an understanding what my daughters strengths and weaknesses are which will give her the best start in life

The assessment follows Nice guidelines and I feel we had a more in depth assessment than we would have received from CAMHS.

Autism North East was set up in 2013 in response to the negative changes that were taking place in the NHS where clinicians were being asked to work in ways that didn't fit with their professional values.

We wanted to ensure that extremely high quality, rigorous assessments would always be available so that people could access the right diagnosis and support quickly. Our values around providing an ethical service led us to set the service up as a not-for-profit organisation.
