Autism North East - School Meeting

At the end of the assessment we go into your child’s school to meet with parents, teachers and other professionals where appropriate, so that we can talk through the outcome of the assessment and discuss a support plan to help your child in school.

Usually this will be the clinician who has led on the assessment, however sometimes it can be helpful to have another team member such as our Occupational Therapist or our Specialist Educational Consultant who is able to advise on very specific issues.

Families find this invaluable to help everyone share the same understanding of their child. It is also crucial to ensure that everyone is working together collaboratively and to create a joined up approach to supporting them.

Brilliant team and highly recommend, should anybody need that supportive note.

You’re the first people that ever listened to me as a parent

Parent

I would (and already have!) highly recommend Autism North East to anyone wishing to seek an assessment for themselves or their child.

Parent

As a professional working in the education sector, I have never seen such a detailed, personalised report following an assessment.

Autism North East was set up in 2013 in response to the negative changes that were taking place in the NHS where clinicians were being asked to work in ways that didn't fit with their professional values.

We wanted to ensure that extremely high quality, rigorous assessments would always be available so that people could access the right diagnosis and support quickly. Our values around providing an ethical service led us to set the service up as a not-for-profit organisation.
