Autism North East - Specialist Questionnaires

As part of our neurodevelopmental assessments, we use specialist standardised questionnaires to help gather detailed information about an individual’s experiences, strengths and areas of difficulty. These questionnaires provide a structured and consistent way of exploring characteristics associated with neurodevelopmental differences across areas such as attention, communication, sensory processing, social interaction and everyday functioning.

Questionnaires are used alongside clinical interviews, developmental history and information from other sources to help build a comprehensive understanding of the individual. Standardised questionnaires do not provide a diagnosis on their own; rather, they are one part of a wider assessment process and help our clinicians consider the information in a consistent, evidence-informed way.

Compassionate and supportive through and emotional journey

Client

I found the assessment process and all of the professionals I worked with to be extremely supportive and thorough.

Client

I also sought additional support following my assessment in the form of a workplace meeting to discuss strategies to allow me to feel better supported in the workplace which has resulted in my employer putting in place a series of reasonable adjustments to help me to stay in work

Parent

The whole process, from start to finish, was incredibly thorough, was carried out sensitively and we really felt listened to

Autism North East was set up in 2013 in response to the negative changes that were taking place in the NHS where clinicians were being asked to work in ways that didn't fit with their professional values.

We wanted to ensure that extremely high quality, rigorous assessments would always be available so that people could access the right diagnosis and support quickly. Our values around providing an ethical service led us to set the service up as a not-for-profit organisation.
